Plowshares Announces 2010 auditions!
Plowshares Theatre Company will hold auditions for its 20th Anniversary Season during the 2nd week of December. The lineup includes Alice Childress’ bittersweet love story Wedding Band, Order My Steps by Tracey Scott Wilson and Jazz: Birth of the Cool. “For the 2010 season, the award-winning Plowshares Theatre Company offers the revival of one of America’s greatest playwrights – Alice Childress, present a new musical exploration of the development of Jazz, and great dramas and passionate stories as we conclude the celebration of our present the 20thAnniversary Season with an incredible season of plays, programs and forums.” – Gary Anderson,Producing Artistic Director.

This season’s theme has been chosen to fit the celebratory nature of the year: Pride in Our Past, Faith in Our Future. Midwest Eligible Performer Regional Audition Notice Date & Hours of Auditions: Monday, December 14. Audition times will be assigned Location of Auditions: Equity and Non-Equity auditions for the plays will be held at 743 Beaubien Street (in Greektown above Niki’s Pizza). Callbacks will be held at the discretion of the director. Appointments: Actors may request a specific appointment time by calling 313.506.2858. Preference will be given to Actors’ Equity members in good standing.

Auditions for a role in WEDDING BAND will be conducted from 3 pm – 4 pm. Preparation: Actors should familiarize themselves with the plays being presented.

Those persons auditioning for JAZZ: BIRTH OF THE COOL must prepare two Jazz standards. All should bring a headshot and resume. Teeta: 10 – 13-aged year-old Black girl;
Princess: 10 – 13-aged year-old white girl;
The Bell Man: 25-35-aged year-old white man
The production will preview Thursday, February 11 and Friday, February 12, 2010. Press opening will be Saturday, February 13 and the play will run for five weeks through to March 14, 2010.
